Update: smoothies and long runs

>> Saturday, July 13, 2013

Sorry for the lack of posts over the past two days. I blame it on the case of food poisoning (thankfully it wasn't super bad) I was unfortunate enough to procure. I won't go into details. It was gross.

Just gonna give a quick update today.

This morning I went for a seven mile run on the beach. It's been about a year since I ran over six miles due to my hamstring (which I injured about two years ago), so I was a little nervous as I started my run.  My hamstring was a little achy, but it got better the longer I ran. It felt amazing to hit seven miles and I celebrated by purchasing a ten dollar smoothie at Juice Crafters in Santa Monica. Yes, you heard that correctly. TEN DOLLARS. It was made from all raw and organic ingredients (not, like, raw meat--ew). My smoothie--called the Pacific Love--had coconut butter, almond milk, raw cacao nibs, banana, maca (the maca root is supposed to provide energy and mood stabilization--give me some of that), dates, bee pollen, and royal jelly. Sounds fancy right? It was delicious. Ten dollars is a lot for a 20 oz smoothie (that's the large size, it's only a dollar more than the small), but I think it's a worthwhile treat after a long, sweaty run.

Hope everyone is having a fabulous Saturday!

XOXO!
